PARK PROGRAMS FOR KIDS
Kids in Parks
Shenandoah National Park has partnered with Kids in Parks to create three TRACK Trails. Each trail includes self-guided brochures and signs, and completing each trail’s activity guide supports the Shenandoah Junior Ranger Program. In addition to earning prizes by mail, kids can track their adventures in an online nature journal, logging how many trails they’ve visited and how many miles they’ve hiked.

Fox Hollow Trail
Distance: 1.2-mile loop hike
Difficulty: rated "easiest"
Hiking Time: about 45 minutes
Elevation Gain: 310 feet
Limberlost Trail
Distance: 1.3-mile loop hike
Difficulty: Rated "easiest"
Hiking Time: about 1 hour 30 minutes
Elevation Gain: 130 feet
Blackrock Summit
Distance: 1-mile loop hike
Difficulty: Rated "easiest"
Hiking Time: about 45 minutes
Elevation Gain: 175 feet
Luray Junior Naturalist Program
Designed for kids 4 to 12 years old, the Town of Luray’s Junior Naturalist Program provides participants with an online booklet filled with activities to complete outdoors and at town parks. Kids can mail the completed booklet to the Town of Luray to receive a prize.
Shenandoah National Park Junior Ranger Program
Shenandoah National Park’s Junior Ranger programs facilitate hands-on activities for kids ages 7 to 12 years old. Children are accompanied by an adult during scheduled events to complete activities. Kids who can’t make it to SNP are encouraged to become a Virtual Junior Ranger.
