THROUGH THE WOODS (REAL FAST!)
Located just outside the picturesque Town of Luray, Bear Mountain Ziplines offers thrill-seekers and nature enthusiasts an exhilarating adventure high above Page Valley. This premier ziplining destination promises breathtaking views, adrenaline-pumping rides and a unique perspective of the Shenandoah Valley’s stunning landscape.
Minutes from Shenandoah National Park’s Thorton Gap entrance, Bear Mountain Ziplines is set amidst the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The course features a series of ziplines that soar through the forest canopy and offer panoramic vistas of the Shenandoah River below. Each zipline provides a thrilling experience as participants glide through the air, suspended by sturdy harnesses and guided by experienced instructors who prioritize safety and enjoyment.
The adventure begins with a comprehensive safety briefing and equipment fitting at a base camp, where participants are introduced to the basics of ziplining. From there, they head to the launch point of one of three ziplines. Along the way, guides share insights into the local flora, fauna and geological features that make Page Valley a unique natural treasure.
One of the highlights of Bear Mountain Ziplines is the "Mama Bear Zipline," a series of seven adrenaline-pumping ziplines that total 2,700 feet of line racing through the forest at up to 35 miles an hour. Each zipline offers a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding mountains and valley, making every ride a memorable adventure.
CLIMB AND SCRAMBLE
Other activities include a “Baby Bear High Ropes Course,” designed for riders aged 5 and older who are at least 3 feet tall and weigh a minimum of 40 pounds. Adventurers who weigh between 50 and 300 pounds can take on the three-story “Bear Scramble Climbing Wall,” which features multiple ascent paths and can accommodate two climbers at a time.
Beyond the thrill of adventure, Bear Mountain Ziplines promotes environmental stewardship and conservation awareness. Guides at the family-owned business are dedicated to the family's commitment to "share the beauty of the area with others, at the same time adding some fun activities for both visitors and locals."
Bear Mountain’s course is designed to minimize impact on the natural surroundings, with platforms and cables constructed to blend seamlessly into the forest canopy.
